THAT COOL OPTION….
Summer has arrived with scorching heat. But this is vacation time too. Vacation is only for the kids perhaps. The others have to continue their tasks, summer or no summer! Well, here we are with a dish that will keep your system cool and make you feel energetic despite the gruelling heat. Bottle Gourd / Suraikkai / Dhudhi / Ghia --- Curd Dish:
Yes, a substitute for those who wrinkle their noses when the words Curd Rice are uttered. I can understand. The moment you open your lunch box with that delicious curd rice, the whole working place becomes aware of heavenly Dish with the special aroma.Heads turn in your direction. Some smile. Some turn away in disgust. Some come forward to share a few spoons. At times, though you love the stuff, you start wishing you had never brought the stuff! So, we have this option. The Surakkai Curd Dish.
Suraikkai is a healthy vegetable. It cleanses your stomach. Gets rid of that unwanted fluid (neer) in your body. Reduces weight. Yes, the CARBS conscious people would love this !!
Ingredients :
Suraikkai ( Dhudhi)…….1
(The no: of Surakkais can be increased as per the quantity you need .)
Curd………………………….as per requirement.
Curry Leaves, coriander Leaves, Grated Carrots , Salt, Ginger Pieces -as required .
Method:
Peel the vegetable. Deseed it. Grate it and place in a bowl. Now steam it.( if you are cooking rice in the cooker, you can place this on top of the vessel).
Remove. Cool.
Now mix the ingredients into this steamed and cooled Suraikkai and Garnish it with mustard seeds and Curd Chillies ( Mor Milagai) , if you want.
This is a great Dish. ( if you are packing this as a lunch item, mix equal quantity of milk and curd). This tastes great when chilled.
